Sheboygan, WI -- Muth Mirror Systems is introducing their popular Signal Mirror® Safety System for select Harley-Davidson and Honda Gold Wing motorcycles.  This innovative accessory uses high intensity lights to change ordinary mirrors into safety features that command attention.  When a turn signal is activated, a flashing chevron appears in the corresponding mirror to alert drivers in the blind spots.  The mirrors appear as regular mirrors whether the turn signals are activated or not.  When hazard flashers are activated flashing chevrons appear in both mirrors.

Many accidents are caused by lane-changing, freeway merging or front-to-rear pileups.  Signal® mirrors are at the eye level of adjacent vehicles and are more noticeable than conventional tail lights.  Because there are an increasing number of larger vehicles on the roads, i.e. trucks and SUVs, motorcycles need something that will draw attention to them.  The LED display used in Signal® mirrors light up faster than regular incandescent lamps in tail lights.  This accounts for an increased reaction distance of 17 feet at 65 m.p.h.  By alerting drivers in the blind spots of the motorcycle equipped with Signal® mirrors those drivers have this additional distance to avoid a collision.

Unlike the adjacent drivers who see a highly visible lighted display, the driver of the cycle equipped with Signal® mirrors sees a subtle tell-tale display.  This reminds the biker the Signal® mirror is activated.

Signal® mirrors are available as retrofit package kits for select Harley-Davidson and Honda Gold Wing motorcycles.  For a Harley MY 1982-2000 the kit #200-0100-0 offers an amber colored forward face only signal and kit #200-0077-0 provides both a forward face and regular Signal® mirror.  All Harley mirrors feature a chromed billet aluminum housing and stem.  For a Honda Gold Wing MY 1988-2000 the kit #200-0076-0 is chrome finished and kit #200-0076-1 is unpainted.

Each kit comes complete with one left and one right hand Signal® mirror and housing assembly, a wiring kit and installation instructions.  Professional installation is recommended.
