| Sheboygan, WI -- Muth Global Visions was among the 26 entries that
made it to the finalist round within the four categories of the 2007 Governor’s Business
Plan Contest. The contest began in late January with nearly 300 entrants statewide.
Muth’s entry, Muth Vision Assist, was submitted in the advanced
manufacturing category. The Muth product is an automotive night vision system that
discriminates between varying distances and depths of field in a vehicle’s path and
assembles them into a single view that is optimized for current weather conditions for
the driver. The system is being developed for safer driving and provides enhanced
vision beyond the headlight high beam range in all weather conditions at night.
The mission of the Governor’s Business Plan contest is to encourage
entrepreneurs in the creation, startup, and early-growth stages of high-tech
businesses in Wisconsin. Participants have the chance to win seed capital and
valuable services to help grow or launch their business. Judges of the contestants
look for factors like innovation, relevant expertise, competitive advantages, and market
opportunity. The contest is open to individuals, teams, and companies that are
Wisconsin-based and/or plan to relocate to the state, are 18 years or older and have a
business plan that employs or leverages technology, and have not already received
private equity. The contest is organized by the Wisconsin Technology Council in
conjunction with its membership subsidiary, the Wisconsin Innovation Network, the
Wisconsin Angel Network, and other statewide affiliates.
Contestants submit a 20-page business plan for review by a panel of 65 judges
established by the Tech Council, which is the independent, nonprofit, and nonpartisan
science and technology advisor to the governor and legislature. Entries were
submitted in four categories: advanced manufacturing, business services, information
technology and life sciences.
“The Governor’s Business Plan contest gave us a great opportunity to expose
our new technology to key Wisconsin tech business proponents. With this new
product, which is currently in development, our goal is to make driving safer in fog,
rain, smoke, and snow at night. And, while there are other companies engineering
night vision systems, ours has these additional benefits incorporated into the
technology,” says Kristi Lawrence, Marketing Manager for the company.
